... Late post, I know, but I've been a little busy.
Adeline Dain Smith arrived on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 5:39 pm. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.
Morning of the 5th, headed to the hospital. Just under 12 hours before she was born.
One of her first pictures.
First time wearing her own clothes.
We were released from the hospital on Friday the 7th. Both of us with a clean bill of health. My family came in for the weekend to see Addie and to take care of us by cooking and cleaning.
Cousin Harrison checking her out.... practice practice little boy, you got a new sibling coming real soon!
Since everyone left we've been settling into our new life. I'm exclusively breastfeeding so 8-10 hours per day are taken up with feeding our little girl. For now she wakes up every 2-3 hours during the night. But she's usually very good about nursing, getting a new diaper, then going back to sleep. I'm adjusting to the lack of sleep, but I'll never actually get used to it. I'm a little bit of a zombie.
Hanging out, waiting for mom to get situated so I can eat.
After breakfast.
I think she looks just like Reed, pretty sure all I did was grow her. I see so much of his personality in her as well, she likes to sleep with the tv on, background noise calms her, and good grief she is NOT a morning person, I give her breakfast then leave her be, that's her down time, she'll sit in her bouncer and quietly observe her surroundings or go back to sleep but she does not want to be held or to play.... holy crap, I'm outnumbered.
just snoozing....
At her first pediatrician's visit at 5 days old, she had lost 12 ounces (common in breastfed babies), and had just a touch of jaundice (also common in breastfed babies). At her second appointment exactly one week later she'd gained over a pound and the jaundice was all gone! The pediatrician was impressed, she said I had magic breastmilk! .... Unfortunately I don't have a picture of me patting myself on the back.
Happy girl!
Our Lil' Gloworm
All in all we're doing pretty good here. All still very much adjusting, but we are more than thrilled to have our Adeline here with us.
